Della Terra Mountain Chateau Wedding | Kati + Taylor

When these two best buds realized that they really were IN LOVE, the “friend zone” became a thing of the past, and Mr. and Mrs. their future! After a sweet engagement, Kati and Taylor decided a destination wedding was their next step and that Colorado’s Della Terra Mountain Chateau was the perfect spot. And they were right.

Kati wanted a winter wedding, and Mother Nature delivered. It snowed! There were mountain goats! Her faux winter stole looked amazing with her Astrid & Mercedes Cherish gown! More importantly, the personal wedding they both envisioned happened, including a secret handshake and an exit to the Star Wars theme.

From Kati:

How did your sweetie propose?

“We have been best friends for a long time, while we were still in “the friend zone,” he gave me a cupcake topped with a toy ring that said “I love you.”  It became a running joke from then on.  On Christmas Eve morning, he gave me a cupcake with the ring on top (just like before) and asked me to be his forever.”

How did you choose your gown?

“I’d always been cynical of the “when it’s the right one, you’ll know” thing; but, when I put on my dress I started crying.  That’s how I knew it was the one.”

Tell us about your day! Did you have a theme or style in mind?

“As far as style goes, I’d always known I wanted to be a winter bride (with snow of course!)…I wanted to keep it very elegant, with the florals being the focal point.  Natural texture was really important.  Pinterest was my life throughout planning!

The theme was very personal.  Intimacy was a big deal to Taylor and me.  One of our best friends actually became an ordained minister and performed our ceremony!  We wrote our own vows, and spent a lot of time on personalizing the music (our exit song was the Star Wars theme); we even did a secret handshake when we entered the reception.”

What was your funniest wedding day moment?

“Taylor forgot his tie at the cabin we were all staying in, and was terrified to tell me.  He was trying to get everyone to sneak around and find it without me knowing.  Needless to say, I found out.”

What was your favorite wedding day moment?

“As the bridal party entered the reception, we had our first moment alone and Taylor said, “We did it. I’m so happy.”  It was perfect.”

Describe your wedding day in 5 words or less:

“My best life.”

What was your something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue?

“Old and Borrowed: My grandmother’s and mother’s wedding bands; New: A ring my mom had made for me; Blue: A necklace from my mother-in-law with my birth stone (Sapphire)”

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

“Disney World!”

Any advice for future brides/grooms?

“Remember that the day is about you two, and do it your way.”
