Something old, something new…Ashley and Austin’s Texas wedding day embodied that phrase in the most fresh-faced and fun way! These two made a conscious decision to not worry about having a “perfect wedding” and focus instead on their own happy hearts.
To that end, when Ashley was dress shopping, she hadn’t really considered separates until she was introduced to our Laurel top. She’d already been digging the illusion trend, and Laurel reminded her of her mom’s gown, except sheer. It was love the moment she slipped on her lacy top and airy skirt!
Read all about how Austin proposed and how the two of them created the day of their dreams from our darling bride below:
How did your sweetie propose?
“On our proposal day, Austin planned a day full of surprises. I spent the day being chauffeured around by my best friends. They made me breakfast, took me to the mall to get a new dress, took me out to lunch, and our last stop was the nail salon. At the end of the day, my best friend took me to a beautiful gazebo by the lake. Austin was there waiting for me. The rest is a blur!”
How did you choose your gown?
“I knew I wanted something young and unique. I also love the illusion trend happening in wedding gowns right now. I didn’t know I wanted a piece gown until I tried it on! It was so fun and different! I chose the Laurel top because it was a really cool spin on a classic style. It reminded me of my mom’s wedding dress, except mine was completely illusion.”
Can you tell me a little about your day? Did you have a theme or style in mind?
“My husband and I both recently graduated college, so we wanted our wedding to be fun, youthful, and laid back. We wanted the day to be a celebration, and I think we definitely accomplished that. My wedding day style was relaxed and organic. My bouquet was full of mix-matched wild flowers, we had a naked ombre bridal cake, and of course my dress was beautiful, unique and flowy. We took the pressure off of ourselves to have the “perfect wedding” and just enjoyed the day with our family and friends. It was the perfect wedding for Austin and I.”
What’s your funniest wedding day memory?
“My funniest wedding memory was during Austin and I’s first look. The first words out of his mouth were “WOW, you look even better than I thought you would!” I was like, “Thanks…I think!!”..ha!”
Describe your wedding day in 5 words or less:
“One day to celebrate forever.”
Three words that best describe your significant other (you or both of you can answer!):
“Austin is the most selfless, hardworking, and patient person I have ever met.”
Any advice for future brides/grooms?
“Comparison is the theft of joy! Focus on the things that will make the day special for you and your significant other. At the end of the day, no one will remember the little details you are stressing over right now!”
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
“Sandals Ochi Rios, Jamaica!! It was the best vacation ever, I’m already begging Austin to book an anniversary trip so we can go back.”
