How did you choose your gown?
“After going to a couple of other bridal stores around the city and not being very excited about anything I put on, I made my way to Lea-Ann Belter for my appointment. I knew I wanted something a little unique. Something you don’t always see, and something that was true to my personality. As soon as I put the skirt on, I loved it right away! Was so classic and felt like a princess. When we paired it with the Laurel lace top, it was stunning. After having the dress on for a few minutes, we started playing with the look of it and made the top into a crop. I immediately fell in love. It was perfect. It was me. I have been to a lot of weddings in the past few years and haven’t seen any bride in anything like it. When I couldn’t take it off, and walked around the store wearing the dress for close to an hour, I knew it was the winner!”
Tell us about your day! Did you have a theme or style in mind?
“The day itself was perfect. It went off without a hiccup, and the weather definitely played in our favor. Which was really the only thing I was stressing about since it was the middle of September and you never know what you’re going to get.
It was a relatively small wedding, only 90 people in attendance. Family and close friends that were ready to party. Our idea of how the wedding day would be was the hope that everyone would just have a great time. Lots of dancing, great food and fun drinks.
Our theme, if we really had one, was “Elegant Farmhouse.” It was a beautiful outdoor wedding within the winery grounds. The ceremony was immediately followed by the reception that took place in the farmhouse and stunning outdoor patio area. The Estate was decorated in a chic, stylish antique feel. With old wine barrels, wood crates, mason jars, antique furniture, and embellished cut logs. It was simple, and beautiful.”
What’s your funniest wedding day memory?
“Being a little extra, I wanted to have our first dance outside with all of our guests holding sparklers. When it came time for the dance, everyone went outside, was handed their sparkler and many lighters were passed out. The song started, Cory and I made our way outside and began to dance. As I looked around, I noticed that most people were completely turned around, all huddled together. They couldn’t get the sparklers lit! It wasn’t until about 2/3 of the way through the song that our guests were ready with lit sparklers in hand!
Although our guests missed most of our dance, it was a funny moment being in the middle of a circle with everyone on the outside struggling “so Mariah could have her awesome sparkler photo op!” haha There were not many pictures taken with them lit, but the photos of Cory and I dancing with everyone with their backs to us, I absolutely love! Looks like it is just the two of us, dancing in our own little world.”
What was your favorite wedding day moment?
“The whole day was my favorite! It was so easy, and so perfect. When I looked around, everyone was smiling and having fun. And, I was able to marry my best friend.”
Describe your wedding day in 5 words or less:
“Effortlessly beautiful, elegant and fun!”
What was your something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue?
“My something old, new and blue were all the same thing. It was given to me by my Mom on the morning of the wedding. It was an old brooch or kilt pin that was given to her years earlier from my Papa. He brought it back to her from Scotland, and she has always kept it with her since he has passed. The brooch is a beautiful blue, and I have it pinned on my bouquet and carried it with me all day.”
