So how did Jennifer get her Carmen gown and custom belt in time, much less organize a photographer and officiant?
Our brave, multitasking newlywed shares her romantic (and amazing) story:
“Matt (my husband) and I had been planning our 11-11-11 wedding in New York for about a year. There was so much pressure and drama with families and planning, that we decided to cancel it about a month before. We decided that we were still going to go to New York and enjoy a vacation since we already had a hotel and plane tickets reserved.
We arrived in New York on Tuesday. On Wednesday, we thought that perhaps we would go to town hall to get married after all. So, we went to obtain our marriage license. When we walked in the door, a gentleman handed us a business card for photography services. We got our license, but while we were there realized that Friday, 11-11-11, was Veterans Day, and therefore, town hall would be closed.
At that point, we thought that we would look into potentially getting married in Central Park, as I knew that you could get married there without any kind of license as long as you had less than 20 people. So, we found a minister online – NYWeddings.com – Keith – and he said he had one available time slot at 9:00 AM, so we took it. Then, we thought we might want a photographer- so we called the name on the card and Goran from Photo Video Wizards was able to come and spend 2 hours photographing our ceremony and then take photos around central park.
Then I called Courtney from White Flower Bridal Boutique and asked her if she could Fed Ex my dress to me overnight so that it would arrive on Thursday. I called a friend and had her overnight me my shoes and hair accessories as well. Next, I called Hair Comes the Bride to see if they could still send someone to come and do my hair and make-up. She was able to get someone there on short notice. I also found a local florist online – Gabriela Wakeham – who created a bouquet and boutonniere for us and dropped it off to our hotel the morning of.
When my dress arrived on Thursday, I sent it to a cleaner to get it pressed. I had not had it altered at all. Courtney had ordered it in a split size from Lea-Ann from the beginning and I think that had a lot to do with it fitting. In any case, everything worked out perfectly, and all the vendors helped make it happen. I was so happy to have had the dress I did. I got so many compliments walking through Central Park with it. I LOVED the color – blush – it was so perfect for my fair skin. And the dress was so light and easy to move around in and comfortable. Every wedding dress should be made like this. I tell everyone that they should buy a dress from Lea-Ann.”
