They say home is where the heart is, and for Kelly and Pat this rang doubly true! Though their lives are currently in NYC, these high school sweethearts met and fell in love in upstate New York. So, of course their sweet, country-chic wedding could be nowhere else.
“Our wedding was in upstate New York, close to where Pat and I met in high school, and where our immediate family lives. Even though we live in Queens now and work out of Manhattan, I knew I wanted an outdoor, summery, country-chic wedding-I’m still upstate at heart and Pat…well, he was down with whatever made my heart happy.
The Appel Inn was pretty much ideal in many ways; rural and laid back, but still super elegant and classy. My dress spoke to me in sort of the same fashion; I was looking for something with very little to no “bling”, a fit that was timeless but showed off some womanly curves, and lace-the color, Mocha, surprised me when I tried it on and I fell in love immediately. The ambiance followed the same idea; just a pop of color from farm flowers and aqua mason jars we painted, with lace table runners and candles. The place looked magical without being overdone.
The whole day encompassed what Pat and I are about; we had lots of laughs, (even at our ceremony when I got distracted and forgot my vows due to a flock of noisy flying ducks), had a family style meal, pies and brownies for dessert, and a combination of our favorite songs playing (everything from Dave Matthews, to Luke Bryan, to Lil John and Jay-Z) the whole evening. Actually, we didn’t even get to try our delicious steak dinners until 3am because we were dancing and mingling the entire time.
It was a super fun, amazing, country-chic, exhausting day (with no rain-yay!)”
Thank you so much for sharing your day, Kelly and Pat, and best wishes!
