If you love peonies, this romantic wedding is for you! Those pretty, lush blooms are our bride Paige’s favorite flower, and were the subtle inspiration behind her and Alex’s celebration. That soft, spring-scented vibe is everywhere, from Paige’s floaty, custom Lea-Ann Belter gown and lovely invitations to her bridesmaids’ pale pink dresses. To top it all off, a soft spring rain fell, which led to these two canoodling beneath an umbrella, all of which you can see and read about from our darling bride below!
How did Alex propose?
“We always go out for Valentine’s Day not on the actual day – we like going before crowds do and some restaurants even have higher prices on their “special” Valentine’s Day menu! So Alex had planned a special date at The Eagle’s Nest in downtown Indianapolis. We had never been – it was a place for very special occasions. The Eagle’s Nest is on top of a tall hotel and actually rotates 360 degrees while you are eating, giving you a full view of the city from every side on the inside! We got downtown before our reservation so we decided to walk along Georgia Street (a street made into a fun walkway that hosts events throughout the year since the Super Bowl was in Indianapolis) and on our way back to the hotel he got down on one knee and asked!”
How did you choose your gown?
“We had somewhat of a set budget and went to two different dress stores here in Indianapolis. The first store showed me dresses way outside our price range and we weren’t happy with the service. But then we went to M.H. Pomander’s and they were wonderful. We actually went shopping just my mom and I at first. We picked out our favorites and then brought in family and my maid of honor. We ended up picking the Lea-Ann Belter dress because we could make the dress exactly what we wanted. I loved the top of one of the Lea-Ann Belter dresses and the skirt on another so we were able to add the other skirt to the top I liked and it was perfect. We were so happy with how it turned out!”
Tell us about your day! Did you have a theme or style in mind?
“I self titled the theme or feel of the day as “soft modern romance.” We picked the time of year because my favorite flower -the peony- bloomed at this time, so peonies were also the theme! Our girls were in different shades of light pink to nude dresses that they each chose and all had matching nude pumps. The boys were all in matching navy suits and Alex (my husband) was in a darker navy suit – why do all of the boys need to match if bridesmaids don’t wear wedding dresses? We got married in the Catholic Church I grew up going to – and that we were both actually baptized in. We took pictures in a pretty large number of places because it rained for most of our wedding day, so we picked lots of locations last minute! We had a beautiful venue for the reception, our local historical society. The ceiling was three stories high with big windows and huge arched columns. We entered the room from a huge set of stairs and floated down them to sit at our head table, which faced all of our guests and the dance floor! The tables were covered with sequined runners and tons of candles and pink and white floral arrangements! It was a dream!”
What’s your funniest wedding day memory?
“The boys switched into superhero boutonnieres for the reception and we almost forgot to put them on! We had to put them on while the bus we were on was moving and doing crazy turns! We actually broke one – but they figured out how to make it work! “
