A New Year’s Eve wedding — what a way to ring in a life together. The atmosphere is electric with joy and the thrill of what’s to come! After a super sweet Thanksgiving proposal (more on that below), Chrissy and Kevin set about putting together a black-tie NYE wedding at the Indianapolis Central Library, and it was everything you’d imagine it to be. Sparkly, fun, classic, and filled with love. Also, instead of favors, they had a caricature artist at the reception so guests could take a one-of-a-kind gift home. Such a great idea!
How did your sweetie propose?
“Every year, we go to my aunt’s lake house in Kentucky for Thanksgiving and spend the entire weekend eating, drinking and laughing. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays and I look forward to this tradition every year. On November 26, 2015, we were enjoying our annual Thanksgiving dinner when Kevin all of a sudden got up and walked to the head of the table and asked me to join him. I made my way up to the front of the room with my heart pounding out of my chest thinking that this could be the moment I’ve waited for my whole life. Kevin dropped down to one knee and said, “I love you dearly. Will you marry me?” Our family erupted in applause and took turns congratulating us! It was one of the best days of my life.”
How did you choose your gown?
“I had gone to many different bridal shops in Indianapolis and spent hours trying on dresses with different silhouettes and fabrics. I was starting to stress because my wedding was less than a year away and I had no idea what dress I was going to wear. I continued my search online and came across a bridal shop, MH Pomander’s, a few blocks from my house and decided to make an appointment. I didn’t invite anyone to tag along because I had done that before and didn’t want to inconvenience my family and friends due to my extreme indecisiveness. I ended up trying on a few Lea-Ann Belter designs during my appointment and knew I was on the right track. I felt beautiful in all of her designs. The last dress I selected to try on that day was a gorgeous lace gown with a dramatic train – the perfect mix of modern and elegance. I called my sister on FaceTime (she lives in Virginia) and showed her the dress I had chosen and we both agreed that this was “the one.” MH Pomander’s also had a gorgeous display of veils so I chose a chapel length, lace trimmed veil that matched perfectly. My mother had passed away a year prior and the veil I chose reminded me of my mother’s.”
Tell us a little about your day! Did you have a theme or style in mind?
“Our wedding was on New Year’s Eve. I had always wanted a winter wonderland wedding, so New Year’s Eve seemed like the perfect date to celebrate with all of our family and friends. Our colors were mostly white with hints of black and gold to tie into the New Year theme. Our ceremony was in the beautiful Simon Reading Room of the Indianapolis Central Library. Our reception was held at the hotel where Kevin and I met and where we worked together for many years. At the reception, we had a caricature artist, which was a huge hit! Our guests loved having a personalized favor to take home with them.”
Describe your wedding day in 5 words or less:
“Elegant, romantic, fun, calm, dreamy.”
Three words that best describe your sweetie:

Kevin: I would describe my wife as smart, fun and sassy!”
Any advice for future brides/grooms?
“Make sure to pace yourself during the planning process so you can enjoy all of the wedding festivities with as little stress as possible. And hire a wedding planner! Also, don’t put too much pressure on yourself to find the perfect dress – take your time and enjoy the process!”
