There was something in the air the day Liz and Elijah said “I do.” Married at a Malibu ranch, love and the sun’s warm glow gilded every sweet instant of their celebration. Even the fairy lights hung from the trees during the ceremony were extra twinkly! Yes, you read right – these two were wed beneath huge, gorgeous trees. Also, the backdrop for their vows? A waterfall. So, sparkling lights, the gentle rush of water, softly spoken promises to love and cherish forever….a recipe for what may be the most romantic moment ever.
Read on for more about their fete (and how Liz found her Jemma wedding dress) from our darling bride:
How did Elijah propose?
“On an east coast trip to Boston and Maine we were doing some sightseeing in Camden, Maine. As we explored Mt. Battie, overlooking Camden, Elijah set up the camera to take a picture of us. I stood posed, waiting for him to run over and as he approached he got down on one knee and popped the question. The setting was perfect with the harbor and fall colors behind us. The camera snapped the perfect photo, too!”
How did you choose your gown?
“After visiting a few local bridal shops with my family and bridal party, I had a good idea of what I was looking for. I knew that I wanted something simple and elegant with delicate details. After struggling to find “the dress,” I made an appointment to visit one last location in San Diego. I tried to sneak off on my own to try on dresses and to take the pressure off of having an audience. My maid of honor inquired about what I was doing that Saturday and I had to spill the beans. She insisted on coming with and I am so glad she did. When I tried on the Jemma dress it was everything I was looking for! The lace detail and the beading set off the dupioni silk perfectly.”
Tell us little about your day! Did you have a theme or style in mind?
“Our wedding venue was incredible, from the lights hanging in the trees to the large windows and exposed beams. Since the venue was already so stunning, I wanted to keep the theme classic and simple. The centerpieces were wooden boxes with greens and the table linens were all white. I kept joking with my bridesmaids that I wanted our wedding to feel like Pottery Barn, relaxed and elegant.”
What’s your funniest wedding day memory?
“My father-in-law wrote and sang a song for us on the guitar during the speeches. The song was wonderful and so heartfelt. He was an excellent showman and had everyone laughing and singing along – it was a moment we will never forget.”
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
“Tokyo and Bali.”
