Classic, California style was written all over Christine and Will’s Santa Barbara Club wedding in shades of navy, white, lilac, and sage green. These two wed in a picturesque garden ceremony, complete with a petal-strewn aisle, then celebrated with a gorge outdoor reception. But amidst all that pretty, it’s their joy and warmth that steal the show! The way they look at each other is everything.
Super romantic side note: Christine’s parents were wed on November 11, 1989, and she and Will said “I do” on November 11th, too! Plus, Christine’s gown was serendipitously similar to her mom’s!
Get the scoop on that and the sweet way Will proposed from our bride below, and take a peek at their wedding video:
How did your sweetie propose?
“We spent Christmas in the home I grew up in La Cañada Flintridge, California and he proposed on Christmas Eve in my backyard when I finished getting ready to go to my Aunt’s house. It was so cold outside, and he kept asking if I wanted to go outside and have a glass of wine by the pool, which I thought was crazy, but did anyway. Next thing I know, he’s on his knees with the ring box open!”
How did you choose your gown?
“I chose my gown after trying on only 5 dresses. When I put it on, I started to tear up because it just felt right. My mother, mother-in-law, and two of my bridesmaids were able to come with me and everybody ended up crying when they saw me in the dress. What was really special was to find out that my mother also bought her dress off the rack, and it was also a silk gown similar to mine! My parents got married on November 11th, 1989 and Will and I married on November 11th as well!”
Tell us about your day! Did you have a theme or style in mind?
“My wedding ceremony and reception were at the Santa Barbara Club, right in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara. It was an absolutely perfect day. My theme (colors) were navy blue, white, lilac, and sage green. I was going for a classic yet relaxed vibe, and it was spot on! “
What’s your funniest wedding day memory?
“Cutting the cake. We had NO idea what we were doing, or how to cut the cake. I finally took control to cut it and Will smashed a piece of cake on my face and it fell down my dress!”
What was your favorite wedding day moment?
“The ceremony. Will surprised me with a special letter that our officiant read out loud. It was towards the end of the ceremony, and everyone was crying (including me). Will has such a way with words and expresses his emotions so beautifully on paper. Needless to say, it was incredibly special and set the tone for a wonderful marriage and wedding. “
Describe your wedding day in 5 words or less:
“Everything that defines us”- Christine Cook
“Beautifully terrific but with style” -Will Cook
What was your something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue?
“Something old: My grandmothers Mink cape.
Something new: Pearl and diamond drop earrings from Will
Something borrowed: Pearls from my mother in law
Something blue: My mother’s sapphire and diamond bracelet”
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
“The honeymoon will be in Hawaii in May 2018! We wanted something to look forward to.”
Any advice for future brides/grooms?
“Go with the flow, and be aware that not everything will go as planned! Embrace the minor hiccups and laugh at the imperfect moments. It makes for better memories and a better story that is uniquely yours. “
