Storybook Wedding at The Arlington Estate | Veronica + Paul

Maybe we’ve watched Love, Actually too many times, but holiday proposals give us alllll the feels. Veronica and Paul’s was extra special, since it took place here in Toronto in the Distillery District during the Christmas market. In other words, it was super beautiful, festive, and romantic. You can read the whole wonderful story here, but for now, have a peek at the moment Paul asked:

engagement photographer: Gaby Hanna

When planning their wedding, these two knew they wanted to represent their two cultures, Italian and Egyptian. One of the ways they did this was to have two religious ceremonies—one a Catholic mass, the other Coptic.  Also, Veronica’s something blue was an evil eye charm pinned under her gown!

Speaking of which, Veronica visited us at our flagship Toronto bridal boutique, where she fell for our classic Judith gown whose layers of lace she complemented with our Karen veil.

From Veronica:

How did you choose your gown?

“I found my dream dress Judith at Lea-Ann Belter’s flagship store in Toronto. It was truly a bride’s dream dress shopping experience. Vanessa was an amazing consultant! She was patient and caring throughout the entire process. Although all of Lea-Ann’s gowns are absolutely stunning, Judith was exactly what I had been looking for in a wedding dress. I especially loved that fact that my dress was being handmade in Toronto and I was supporting local talent. Saying “yes” to Judith was a very easy decision to make!”

Tell us about your day!

“When planning our wedding, the three things we focused on were representing our cultures (Italian and Egyptian), good food and great music! We had two religious ceremonies—a Catholic mass and a Coptic mass. Following the ceremonies, our reception took place at the beautiful Arlington Estate. We wanted our wedding to be elegant and simple with modern details. For entertainment, we decided to have both a DJ and a band. They kept everyone on the dance floor all evening! It was truly a magical day from beginning to end.“

What was your first dance song?

“”Something Special” by Usher.”

What was your something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue?

“Something Old: my wedding band is extra special to me because my Nonna’s original wedding band (from Italy) is the core of my wedding band. My mom had been saving my Nonna’s ring for me and surprised me with it a few months before the wedding.

Something New: my bow shoes

Something Borrowed: The wifey purse that I borrowed from my bridesmaid Francesca

Something Blue: the evil eye that was pinned under my dress”
