Finding the right wedding dress isn’t always easy, even when you are planning possibly the most romantic destination wedding ever in Turks and Caicos. Married on the beach (how dreamy is that?) beside a gorgeous sea, Kristen and Ryan’s wedding was perfection, just like Kristen in her flowy silk Helene wedding dress!
Kristen’s wedding gown story is one that made us all sigh in empathy. Though every woman starts her search with enthusiasm, not all of us find The Dress right away. Luckily, planning the rest of their Caribbean wedding was a breeze, especially with the help of a wonderful team.
“My fiancé knew the owner of a glamorous bridal salon in NJ, Exquisite Bride. So when I arrived, there was a room filled with gorgeous gowns I excitedly tried on one by one. As we closed in on the end of the rack, my heart was slowly starting to sink… none felt right. A delicate ivory silk gown remained, but it was nothing like the other dresses. I told my consultant, ‘I don’t think I’ll like that one,’ but when I turned the corner where my mom and Maid of Honor were waiting, I welled up in tears. For the first time, I was able to envision my fiancé seeing me walk down the aisle in my beautiful Helene from Lea-Ann Belter, and I knew it was the one.
The location for our wedding was between Delaware (where we live) and Turks & Caicos Islands (where we got engaged). Needless to say, we chose the tropical island with the special place in our hearts. Plus, I figured planning a destination wedding would be easy. Then I realized there was an added element of pressure to make it perfect, not for us, but for our friends and family who were now traveling to another country! So we took a special trip to the island and found our wedding planner, venue/caterer, and photographer. Once the major pieces of the puzzle were put into place, the pressure for it to be perfect turned into knowing it was going to be perfect. Altogether, we planned a toes-in-the-sand ceremony with my oldest brother as the officiant, a reception with the biggest dance floor we could find, bonfire, more food than we could eat, and, of course, endless rum punch. Best. Day. Ever.”
