Wedding Dress Trunk Shows Explained

You’ve seen the posts about wedding dress trunk shows in your social media feed, but what does it all mean? Are there trunks? Do models show you the gowns? Do you really need an appointment?

So many questions!

Here’s the skinny.

Most bridal boutiques don’t carry our (or any one designer’s) entire collection of gowns. Instead, our newest collection goes on kind of a road show to our wonderful Astrid & Mercedes retailers who have scheduled an event.

Appointments during a trunk show are typically managed the same as usual – brides-to-be work one-on-one with a boutique’s salesperson to find just the right dress.

What makes a trunk show special?

Trunk show gowns are often only available for a short period of time – usually just one weekend! Because of this, bridal boutiques focus on showing gowns of the featured designer to shopping brides. This gives ladies who love Astrid & Mercedes gowns the opportunity to try on styles not normally available at the boutique.

Sometimes Astrid & Mercedes designer Lea-Ann or her representative, Stephanie, will arrive with the gowns to help brides choose their gown, which always makes things super exciting! Plus, as an added bonus, there are generally incentives (such as discounts) to purchase a gown during a trunk show event.

Boutiques are known to offer champagne, snacks, a goodie bag, or even have some favorite wedding vendors present, so be ready for a good time!
