Wonderful Wedding at Sunnybrook Estate | Nadia + Cam

There is so much to love about Nadia and Cam’s wedding story. It’s filled with sweetness but also modern-day realness. These two have been down the aisle before (separately!), and each had children from previous relationships when they met after being introduced by Match.com.

Very soon after their first date, they knew it was right. As Nadia told us, “Funnily enough, neither one of us proposed to the other. After about 8 months together, we knew this was it, so we bought each other commitment rings. We were both divorced with two kids each, so a bit hesitant about making it official.”

As you’ll see from their pictures, these two and their four kids make a perfect set. The smiles are huge, the love is everywhere, and the partying was epic.  Also, our bride (who visited us at our Toronto bridal boutique) looks radiant. Just like marrying Cam, a Lea-Ann Belter gown was meant to be—she shopped at our original Yorkville store in 1994 for her first wedding.

Get all the lovely details of their day as well as some really excellent marriage advice from Nadia, who will be jetting off with Cam to Playa Mujeres in February for a honeymoon!

How did you guys meet?

“We met on Match.com. Cam found me and emailed me first. We had our first telephone conversation on June 30, 2014 and apparently I passed that test because our first date was the next day (July 1, 2014)! One of the reasons we chose June 30, 2018 for our wedding day.”

How did you choose your gown?

“Back in 1994 I went to Lea-Ann Belter in Yorkville to try on dresses with my mother (for my first wedding of course!). I tried on the most beautiful silk dress with rosettes at the waist. But it was around $1200 and my mother could not afford it. She really wanted to pay for my dress so I went for a warehouse sale dress. So when Cam and I decided to get married and have a party, I knew I wanted a Lea-Ann Belter dress. Especially since I drive by the store at least once a week and drool over the windows! Vanessa was amazing! She listened to what I wanted. The most important thing to me was that it be age appropriate (47 is not young!) and that I be able to wear it again in some other way. I believe I tried on about 6 dresses before hitting on my combination of the custom Cherish skirt, Audrey bustier and Abigail lace jacket. Right now Vanessa is having the skirt shortened so I can wear it for formal occasions.”

Tell us about your day—did you have a theme or style in mind?

“Our wedding was at McLean House at Sunnybrook Estates. We really wanted a fun party with good food, drinks and lots of dancing. There was no theme and only about 78 friends and family from far and wide. It was a very hot day so most people spent cocktail hour in the air conditioning. Thankfully the trees and grass provided a bit of coolness while we tried to get the photos done as quickly as possible. Hence the shiny faces! I guess if we had a style in mind it was an elegant but casual dinner party.”

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

“There are two funny memories for me. The first was Cam’s personal vows. He promised to “always be my friend—to play with (you know that special friend kind of play!) and always rub my feet”. OMG I was laughing so hard and so was everyone else. The other funny thing was that my younger son ended the night on the dance floor with his shirt completely undone and his tie wrapped around his head! Needless to say, he had a blast and maybe a few too many gin and tonics!”

Five words that best describe Cam?

“Caring, smart, funny, affectionate and kind.”

Any advice for future brides/grooms?

“We are probably the wrong people to ask about marriage advice since we didn’t get it right the first time. But we both believe that everything happens for a reason, everyone makes mistakes and we got beautiful children from that. Our marriage will be stronger because we have learned from our lives. One piece of advice I would give is to always listen to your partner. Everything can be solved by listening.”

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

“We are actually going on our honeymoon in February. We wanted a summer wedding but a winter honeymoon. We are going to Playa Mujeres in Mexico for 9 days. Can’t wait!”
