Botanical Garden Wedding | Jacqueline + Barrington

You never know where you’re going to meet your match! For Jacqueline and Barrington, that place was at work…in a hospital. Barrington is an anesthesiologist, and, at the time, Jacqueline was a resident in foot and ankle surgery, and they met during her rotation in the anesthesia group. As Jacqueline told us, “He was an amazing teacher and I was a magnet to him every time we worked together. To this day I still cannot get enough of him.”

She still can’t get enough of him! How romantic is that?

Pretty darn swoony, as was their wedding at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens, which, in addition to being drop-dead gorgeous, included their adorable two-year-old son (who is also named Barrington)!

When she was shopping for a gown, Jacqueline had her eye out for something classic and easy to wear. Our Pippa top and Fleur skirt was the second look Jacqueline tried at Brides by the Falls, and in an instant she knew the combo was exactly what the doctor ordered (sorry—we couldn’t resist!).

More from Jacqueline, who jetted off with her two Barringtons to Cancun for a sunny honeymoon:

How did you know he was the one?

“As my sister said in her speech on our wedding day, our worlds “collided.” We were friends, became better friends, became best friends, dated, bought a house together, had our son Barrington and then all of the pieces of the puzzle fell into place.”

How did your sweetie propose?

“With our son, at our country club on the patio. Our son (not planned) took the ring out of the box and handed it to me.”

How did you choose your gown?

“I wanted a classic gown which was easy to wear, hence the 2-piece. It was the second dress I tried on which made it a very quick process for me.”

Tell us about your day!

“We were married at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens. We had been to a beautiful wedding there prior and the service and food were exquisite. We wanted it to be a celebration of our love. We have had an amazing journey and wanted to throw a celebration for everyone who has supported us along the way. Priorities were good food, drinks and a huge party! We had an amazing live band, popsicle stand (with alcoholic and non-alcoholic popsicles), photo booth and live event painter. We had a dessert bar in place of a traditional wedding cake.”

What was your first dance song?

Etta James—“At Last”

Describe your wedding day in five words or fewer:

“An extraordinarily good time!”

What was the funniest moment of your day?

“There are so many funny moments!
My sister (Jenn) who was the matron of honor and my best friend (Coleman) who is a man exchanged shoes and it was beyond hysterical. I also had to correct the officiant as he introduced us as Dr. and Mrs. I had to correct him to acknowledge that we are both doctors. Everyone cheered!

My family also has a tradition of singing “Paradise by the Dashboard Light” by Meatloaf and the men all line up and women all line up and scream/sing/dance at one another!”

What was your something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue?

“We did not do any traditional elements as our entire story is non-traditional.”

Three words that best describe your partner (you or both of you can answer!):

“Loving, loyal and dedicated—my description of Barrington
Joyful, authentic, amazing—Barrington’s description of me.”

Any advice for future brides/grooms?

“The day flies by so quickly so soak up every second of the day. Definitely loved our videographer and would emphasize spending money on this.”
