Jessica and Jon’s recipe for a perfect wedding? Sunny smiles, color, and light-hearted fun. When it came to planning their celebration, these two went their own way with a vibrant palette of turquoise, red and pink, as well as a venue that gave them butterflies.
True to her spunky spirit, our delightful bride went the custom route with her Lea-Ann Belter wedding gown, and accessorized it with the brightest smile ever.
Get the scoop on how Jon proposed, those adorable kiddos and the rest of their colorful wedding day below!
How did Jon propose?
“Jon proposed at one of my favorite places on the shores of Lake Michigan at the Little Point Sable lighthouse. It was a gorgeous sunset on the water and we were fortunate enough for a friend to capture it. After the proposal, he said we needed to hurry back to the cottage, where he had arranged an engagement party with all our family and friends on the beach!”
How did you choose your gown?
“I knew that I wanted a mermaid-style dress incorporating tulle and lace. After several attempts of finding the right dress, we went to The Gown Shop Ann Arbor and the first dress I tried on was the Rosemary style. I also loved the crystals on the Ruby gown and I was ecstatic when they could mesh that detail with the Rosemary gown to make a custom creation!”
Tell us about your day! Did you have a theme or style in mind?
“For our wedding, we wanted to incorporate the outdoors with an easygoing setting. We both fell in love with our venue, Toledo Country Club – it just seemed like you weren’t in Toledo anymore and brought us both bliss! My flowers were a huge part of my style of my wedding since I wanted it to be full of color and playful. I had visions of bright floral details throughout the wedding with fun, personal details that reflected us.“
Funniest wedding day memory?
“The kids in our wedding. We had two ring bearers and three flower girls in our wedding. Ollie had a blast running down the aisle a few times, while Landry consciously placed each petal to perfection, followed by Reagan picking them all up.“
Advice for future brides/grooms?
“Do what makes you happy. Our wedding was not as traditional, and prior to the wedding, some family and friends voiced their displeasure of this. I was glad we stuck to our original plans since many guests complimented how much they loved our wedding because of its uniqueness and could see all the personal details were placed throughout the ceremony and reception. Most importantly, it’s your day – have it your way with no regrets!”
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
“Jon and I decided to take our honeymoon this December to Maui, Hawaii. We wanted to wait when it was chilly here in Ohio to enjoy the warmth on the island. Neither of us have been there, so we cannot wait!”
