The breezy authenticity of Lindsay and Trav’s wedding at Double K Estate is gonna give you the goosies in the very best way. Not only is it beautiful, but these two go together like PB&J.
Sweet Lindsay describes why she loves her hubby this way: “We’re best friends. Us and our dogs. Every day is fun with Trav even when we’re doing nothing. He makes me feel completely at ease in my own skin and encourages me to chase all my dreams.“ Relationship goals, right? These two also happen to adore where they live and spend a lot of time outside (Trav is an avid fly fisherman) with their adorable dogs, Robert and Norm.
So, of course, all of that got packed into their extra-special, laid-back celebration, which Lindsay tells you all about below. (P.S. 100% ‘Yes’ to her wedding planning advice!).
How did your sweetie propose?
“Trav proposed while we were fly fishing at our favorite, secret spot in Northern Michigan. I had no idea he was planning to propose, but I pretty much wanted to marry him since our first date.”
How did you choose your gown?
“I saw a picture of it and was immediately drawn to it! I bought it right after we were engaged, before we had planned anything. I’ll never forget Trav’s smile when he first saw me in it. He did this awesome fist pump and looked so happy. We spend most of our time at home with our dogs Norm and Robert in sweatpants, so it was pretty amazing to wear such a beautiful and ethereal gown for a day.”
Tell us a little about your day! Did you have a theme or style in mind?
“We were married next to a river bordered by forest in Boyne Falls at Double K Estate, a private spot with a lot of Michigan fly fishing history; it was perfect for us. We just wanted it to be a relaxed party with the people we care about. We missed our dogs, though. My sister’s maid-of-honor speech was amazing, and we ended the night with a huge group hug to the Flaming Lips version of ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.’ So much love, and the stars were insane that night.”
What’s your funniest wedding day memory?
“Our officiant had a hard time with our last name. He was such a sweet guy, and I’d totally recommend him even though he kept pronouncing it in a way that sounded like a planet in a science fiction novel.”
Any advice for future brides/grooms?
“Do exactly what you want to do and remember that while a wedding is a really cool rite of passage to experience, it’s just one day. After that, you return to your real life together, and that’s what it’s really all about – you two facing all that life brings together: the ups, the downs, the in-betweens.”
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
“We enjoyed Northern Michigan for a few days before and after our ceremony, and we hope to head to Montana sometime next year. For us, there’s no place like Northern Michigan! I think Trav will also trick me into heading to the White River in Arkansas to fish, and I’m totally okay with that!“
