Effortlessly Elegant Toronto Wedding | Dragana + Mike

Tradition, modernity, and effortless classic style came together seamlessly on Dragana and Mike’s wedding day! They exchanged vows in a traditional Christian Orthodox ceremony at All Serbian Saints Church, had a just-married shoot with Toronto as a spectacular backdrop (the city is where they met, after all), and then headed off to The National Club for a warm, refined celebration.

Dragana visited us in our flagship Toronto bridal boutique, where she found the elegant, contemporary gown she’d had in mind. Our Astrid & Mercedes Divine gown suited her sensibilities to a T, and she topped it off with our Carrie jacket and a customized Meryl veil.

More from Dragana, whose first dance with Mike was to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole before they later flew off to a sunny, dreamy Hawaii honeymoon!

How did you choose your gown?

“I wanted a gown that was elegant and timeless, but had a hint of modernity. When Vanessa showed me the lace pattern of the Divine gown I knew instantaneously that this was my dress! The pattern was so intricate and delicate and gave my gown the softness I was looking for. The Carrie jacket was the cherry on the top. It allowed me to be more conservative during the ceremony without compromising the beauty and look of the gown.”

“When it came down to planning our wedding there were three words we kept in mind: elegant, simple and traditional. When we first visited our venue, The National Club, we were drawn to its formality and the warm hospitality. We wanted our family and friends to feel like they were joining us at home for a really nice dinner. The only other décor we used were white and light pink flowers and really relied on the details of the club’s rich woodwork for warmth.

We opted out of doing a reveal, so we first saw each other as my father walked me down the aisle at the church. We were married at the All Serbian Saints Church, in the traditional Christian Orthodox ceremony.

We incorporated the Serbian tradition of Rosemary boutonnieres. Guests were welcomed at the reception by having this pinned to their lapel/dress. Rosemary is considered to be a symbol of good luck.”

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

“Hawaii—we wanted to be surrounded by breathtaking scenery. After all that busy, and at times stressful, wedding planning we were counting down the days to watch beautiful sunsets, hear the waves crash the shore and fully immerse ourselves in a much calmer way of life.”
