Toronto Wedding at the Globe and Mail Centre | Liz + Anthony

After a sunset proposal in (hello!) Santorini, Liz and Anthony came back home to Toronto and began planning a wedding celebration that not only incorporated who they are as a couple, but also celebrated their city. So, where else to do that than The Globe and Mail Centre?

Lovely Liz visited us at our flagship bridal boutique and worked with our amazing consultant Vanessa to create a one-of-a kind Astrid & Mercedes Divine!

From Liz:

How did your sweetie propose?

“Anthony proposed in Santorini in early September.  We were at the most beautiful hotel, perched on the cliff-side, overlooking a sunset on the horizon, with a beautiful bottle of local rose wine. Of course I said yes!”

How did you choose your gown?

“It took me awhile to find a dress that I loved. I knew I wanted something with interesting straps, but I wasn`t finding anything that was amazing off the rack (my mom and I had searched high and low!). Luckily, Vanessa had a fantastic vision and helped me combine two dresses into one to make my dream dress. Every detail was perfect.

I love how comfortable the dress was, too! It felt like a second skin and, while it had a beautiful train, no one had to follow me constantly rearranging my dress because it was very low-maintenance.”

Tell us about your day! Did you have a theme or style in mind?

“We wanted a venue that was a celebration of the city, but we also wanted to bring softness and nature into the space.“

What was your favorite wedding day moment?

“My favourite moment was the start of the ceremony. It was so exciting to finally see Anthony and get things going after so much anticipation and planning. I loved making it official!”

What was your first dance song?

“We danced to a song called “I Will Follow You” by Toulouse. It`s such a beautiful cover of a great old song. We also had a very fun time taking dance lessons and preparing a routine.”

What was your something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue?

“OLD: “I carried a small purse that belonged to my great grandmother which was given to me by my mom”

NEW: Everything else! (highlight was the dress)

BORROWED: I had a small blue heart with me that my friend Heather lent to me. It was very special because it belonged to her mom.

BLUE: I had some (also borrowed) blue nail polish on my toes!”
