Jack House Wedding Overflowing with Florals | Lauren + Mitch

Informed by a dark floral print and lots of romance, Lauren and Mitch’s Jack House wedding hums with their laid-back, California-bred style. These two cuties got engaged at Red Rocks during a Lumineers show as the band was playing “Ho Hey.” A sweet story that definitely found its way into their celebration, too—guests signed a sweet guitar with their well-wishes!

Lauren was sure she wanted one style when searching for her gown, but when she slipped on Lovely at Moondance Bridal, that was it. She was in love, and not just because of the pockets.

From Lauren:

How did you choose your gown?

“I went with a few family members and bridesmaids to a couple of appointments. At the time, I had it in my head that I want something with lace and sleeves and a gauzy skirt… but then I tried on the dress that ended up being mine. I immediately started to tear up. Looking back, Lovely is the style of dress I always wanted and it suits me in more ways than the actual look of it. Whenever Mitch would prod me about what it looked like I would say, “You’ll see.. it’s just ‘me.’

Oh, and it has pockets! Definitely a selling point.”

Tell us about your day! Did you have a theme or style in mind?

“We did not have a theme in mind. I came up with a couple of mood boards initially, but the final look-and-feel actually ended up being based off the dark-floral pattern on the bridesmaids dresses. Also Mitch and I agreed we wanted string lights and overflowing florals—the style just kind of stemmed from those points. Most of all we wanted to throw an awesome party for our friends and family!”

What was your favorite wedding day moment?

“The whole day and evening were amazing, but the moment that sticks out is when we were hanging out with our whole wedding party before the ceremony started. We were all shoved into this room at the back of the venue, listening to dance music from high school, and generally just shaking off our nerves. It was so nice to spend some time together like that before the madness really started.

My dad seeing me all dressed up for the first time was also perfect—it was the only time that day I cried, and I am a notoriously weepy person.”

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

“We’re currently living in Denver (the wedding was in California, where most of our family is) so we came back to Colorado and went up to Carbondale, a town just outside of Aspen. They have a vodka distillery there called Marble with a few hotel rooms up top. We stayed there for a few nights, got massages, went hiking, and just ate around at all the amazing food places they have up there.”

Any advice for future brides/grooms?

“Stay true to your own wants and priorities for the day. When planning, it can be really easy to get caught up in other people’s/Pinterest ideals, which ultimately just causes unnecessary stress. We ended up focusing on making sure our guests were well fed and having a good time. It was perfect!”
