Lockdown Lowdown | Something Bleu Bridal

Saratoga Springs women who dig modern and romantic wedding dresses know precisely where to go to find the right dress—Something Bleu Bridal. They’ve carried Lea-Ann Belter Bridal and Astrid & Mercedes gowns almost since Lea-Ann began designing bridal gowns! The women of Something Bleu love what they do. Still, like nearly everyone else, owners Kathryn and Marissa along with their team are staying home to help keep their brides, staff, and community safe. But, boy, do they miss being in the shop.

What do you miss most about being in the shop day-to-day?

“Being away from our brides and unable to have them in the shop to even try on their gowns as they arrive, ready and waiting, for their wedding day debut is really difficult. Also, not being able to greet them at the door at their first appointment is something we all miss! Of course, we love meeting our brides the first time they walk in the door, but what we’re really missing are those moments after a bride has bought her dress. That’s when we develop a deeper relationship as she tries on her custom gown for the first time or completes her final fitting. It’s the lack of relationship-building that we miss the most.”

Same, you guys!

What are you doing with your time away from the shop?

Marissa and Kathryn are working from home, but the lack of social contact is making them a little punchy. So, they’re finding new ways to reach out (and provide a little levity) to their brides, starting with wearing their dresses while doing everyday things like cleaning, yoga, and, in Marissa’s case, playing with her adorable new baby, Aiden…and sharing it on Something Bleu’s Instagram.

Asking a bridal shop owner or stylist which Lea-Ann Belter gown is their fave is like asking them to choose a favorite child. But we did it anyway!

Which Lea-Ann Belter gown is your all-time fave?

“My (Kathryn’s) personal favorite is actually one we don’t even own—I LOVE the watercolor skirt and regret not having it in-store. For Marissa, Anika is the clear favorite for her understated glam. From the Spring 2020 collection, the runaway favorite for Teri and Rochelle is Summer and her southern-feeling, romantic charm.”
