The Mayan Riviera is as spectacular as it sounds. White beaches, blue seas, even bluer skies…an ideal spot for a romantic destination wedding. Erin and Troy thought so, too! After planning from afar (and Erin discovering the perfect wedding dress), these two lovebirds flew from Calgary to Puerto Morelos and then made their way to Marina El Cid Spa and Beach Resort to tie the knot and celebrate under windswept, starry skies.

From Erin:

“We couldn’t have asked for a better day to get married, it was a hot, sunny day with not a single cloud in the sky so we were able to have our dream ceremony on the resort’s long pier in the late afternoon. Our three nieces, Anya, Eva & Kiki, were the adorable flower girls and they took their job very seriously. The ceremony was short and sweet, performed by Troy’s sister-in-law, so it was very personal. We had a casual reception on the beach with Chinese lanterns giving off a romantic glow during dinner and a cool LED dance floor that livened up the party during the dance.

When I got engaged, like most newly engaged ladies, I started looking for inspiration on Pinterest and I must have come across a picture of one of Lea-Ann’s gowns and decided to check out her website. Well, I immediately fell in love with her gowns and when I came upon the Reese I was instantly drawn to it, it was the classic and simple design I was looking for but with a little something special going on in the back…

My next step was finding out if any stores in Calgary carry her gowns and luckily Cameo and Cufflinks did! So when I arrived at my appointment I had to cross my fingers they carried a sample of the Reese and to my relief they did! So, at that point I knew it was unlikely that the dress I saw online would be the ‘one’ so I put it on first to ‘rule it out.’ However, the dress was perfect (the sample was even in my size), it was super light which was a bonus for a destination wedding and it was everything I was looking for. After trying on a few others, I just kept coming back to the Reese and when I put it back on, I knew it was the one for sure!”
