Romantic Laurel Hall Wedding | Anna + Andrew

It might have rained all day, but that didn’t stop Anne and Andrew’s Laurel Hall wedding from shining! Along with some of the prettiest florals ever, pastel bridesmaids and Anna in her blush Ingrid dress, the love and joy gave their celebration a luminous glow…no sun required.

Get the scoop on their celebration and Anna’s last-minute gown adventure below!

How did Andrew propose?

“We were on vacation in Belize, and on the last day of our trip (which was also my birthday) we went for a walk on the beach at night. He led me to the end of the dock where it was just the two of us and we sat and talked for a while. I kept asking if he wanted to go back to the room to lay down since he looked a little off to me and he hadn’t been feeling well earlier that day, but it turns out he was just nervous! He took me to the edge of the dock and started saying sweet things, but I didn’t realize what was coming until he stepped back and got down on one knee to ask me to marry him. I was so in shock I didn’t even notice the ring at first! Of course I said yes!”

How did you choose your gown?

“The gown…that’s a story. I had been swooning over this particular gown online for weeks and made a trunk show appointment in Chicago to see it. However, the appointment was only 3 months away from our wedding, so in the meantime I tried on gowns at home so that I would have a backup plan in case that dress didn’t work out. I loved the Ingrid gown that I tried on at M.H. Pomander’s in Indianapolis, but I ended up buying a gown at the trunk show. I immediately felt uneasy about the purchase and couldn’t stop thinking about the Lea-Ann Belter gown! So, I ended up buying it at their sample sale. I took it to be cleaned before alterations and it was ruined in a freak chemical leak at the cleaners! Needless to say I was panicked because my heart was now set on the Ingrid gown. I contacted M.H. Pomander’s immediately and they got me on the production schedule – a month later I had a brand new gown in the blush color that I had wanted!”

Tell us about your day! Did you have a theme or style in mind?

“I wanted the day to be soft and romantic, with lush flowers and light and airy colors, with a touch of vintage feel. We ended up with the perfect combination of those things! The venue, Laurel Hall, was the perfect setting and totally made up for the fact that it rained the entire day.“

What’s your funniest wedding day memory?

“My favorite was probably our sparkler exit – someone started singing The Star-Spangled Banner and everyone joined in! It was a very patriotic end. I still don’t know who started it!”

Five words that best describe your sweetie:

“Oh goodness…only five?! My husband, Andrew, is incredibly kind, generous, compassionate, easygoing, and funny. Not to mention very handsome!”

Any advice for future brides/grooms?

“Stop worrying about what everyone else wants or expects out of your wedding day. What you will remember is the overall atmosphere and the people you love most being there…the rest will just make for pretty pictures. And take it all in as best you can, they say it goes by so fast and they are right!”

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

“We went to Santorini and Athens in Greece and then ended our trip with a visit to his family in Frankfurt, Germany. It was so much fun and relaxing!”
