Wedding at The Carnegie Museum of Art | Marissa + Brandon

The arts are the golden thread that drew Marissa and Brandon’s lives together. In high school, they got to know each other through activities like marching band and choir, and Brandon was always quick to give Marissa a ride home from rehearsals. Finally, one of her dance studio performances during senior year included a partner dance. Since all the dancers had to find their own partners, Marissa decided to ask Brandon…and things evolved from there!

When Brandon proposed, it was at the Kennedy Center, and naturally, they chose a creative hub for their wedding day.  Shares Marissa, “I love classic, elegant style, and have always dreamed of getting married in an art museum. I am a musician, and it was so perfect that we got married in the Music Hall Foyer in the Carnegie Museum of Art.”

Tell us about your outfits! How did you choose your gown?

“I went to SO MANY bridal shops. I bought my gown at your trunk show in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, the quaint small town where my parents had their first date. I could not choose a dress. I tried on hundreds. I wanted something that felt sexy, elegant, classic, and fun. As soon as I put Arden on, I felt confident—there was a certain energy about how it moved in the space. I did not know for sure at first glance. I waited a month or so after trying it on at the store and then called on one of the last days I could in order to get it in time! I’m so indecisive…but It was the BEST decision. I loved the slit as it was so playful. I felt totally unconstrained and elegant. The structural elegance was perfect for the art museum. It was a joy to wear!”

What was your first dance song?

“Our first dance to “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz was my favorite moment of the day. It was a fitting song about commitment to one another as we pursued many years of dating and growing up together. We danced in the middle of the dance floor and our guests watched from the balcony at the conclusion of cocktail hour. We choreographed the dance ourselves.”

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

‘We enjoyed a blissful Honeymoon in Northern Italy—traveling to Lake Como, Verona, and Venice.”
