Fun fact—Alex and James met while playing flip cup. After a surprise engagement on Toronto Islands’ dock, this delightful duo incorporated their playful ways into a wedding weekend (that included flip cup, of course!) at the Northridge Inn. There was a BBQ and bonfire rehearsal dinner, and guests could avail themselves of the resort’s swimming, kayaking, and lawn games while the couple donned their finery!

How did your sweetie propose?
“He was supposed to be out of the city, so I made plans to meet my sister for lunch on the Toronto Islands. When we arrived, he was waiting for me at the end of the dock. He proposed in front of the beautiful city backdrop and even had my sister secretly photograph the whole event!”

Tell us about your day!
“We both love the lake and cottage weekends, so we decided to have a wedding weekend at a resort called Northridge Inn. Guests arrived on Friday and we had a casual BBQ and S’mores bonfire. On Saturday, while we were getting ready, guests were able to enjoy the resort: going swimming; kayaking; and playing lawn games. Our ceremony was out on Northridge’s beautiful dock on the water. After the ceremony, we had a cocktail hour kicked off with a flip cup game – Bride/Bridesmaids vs. Groom/Groomsmen (fun fact: we met playing flip cup!). This was followed by a delicious dinner and a live band. We finished the weekend with a Sunday brunch before we said goodbye to all of our guests.”
What was your first dance song?
“ “I’m With You” – Vance Joy.”
Any advice for future brides/grooms?
“Everyone has an opinion on how your wedding should go; remember it’s your day and it’s OK if you don’t take all the advice you get—keep it true to you and your partner!!”
