Classic, elegant, and so, so much fun. Sound like the perfect wedding day? It was!
After saying “I do” at St George’s Episcopal Church, our darling newlyweds Dede and Wallace sped off to Belle Meade Country Club to celebrate. And what a bash it was! Awaiting guests was an “Augusta bar” (Wallace is from Augusta and played golf at UNC ), cocktails overlooking the club’s golf course, florals of the knock-your-socks-off variety, and a band that wouldn’t quit.
Take note, all you planning brides and grooms: before the party got into full swing, Dede and Wallace had dinner—just the two of them right when they arrived at the reception. Brilliant and romantic, right? Another winner? Dede’s advice to all of you: “Don’t worry about the little things and enjoy every second of the day—it will fly by! And have FUN!!“
More from our wonderful bride (who literally got flipped into the air during the merrymaking):
How did your sweetie propose?
“We were on a hike in one of our favorite parks in Nashville on a hot July morning when he proposed. We went to lunch afterwards to celebrate, then he surprised me with all of our friends and family waiting at my parents’ house to continue the celebrations!”

How did you choose your gown?
“I tried on several gowns at several different stores, but I kept thinking about this one dress I tried on at White Dresses Boutique! I really liked how I was able to customize this Lea-Ann Belter gown to be exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a strapless gown but really loved the lace overlay of another gown. I was thrilled when I was able to combine these two aspects and create the customized gown I had in mind!”
Tell us about your day! Did you have a theme or style in mind?
“I wanted it to be traditional and classic, but also with a touch of both the bride & groom’s personalities. We had an “Augusta bar” set up in honor of my husband’s hometown that was a huge hit (picture attached) and also a cake in honor of his days playing golf at UNC! I loved all the flowers involved and how they matched the bridesmaids’ blush dresses. We were also extremely lucky with the weather! It ended up being the perfect temperature that guests were able to enjoy cocktail hour outside overlooking the golf course. It was a beautiful evening.“
What’s your funniest wedding day memory?
“One of the groomsmen surprised me, by completely flipping me over in the air. It was terrifying but also hilarious! The look on everyone’s faces was priceless after it happened!”
What was your favorite wedding day moment?
“I loved getting ready at my parents’ home with all my bridesmaids and it was very special having the first look there in the front yard. We also were able to have dinner by ourselves right when we got to the reception. It was nice to catch our breath and have a quiet moment between the two of us before joining the rest of the party.”
What was your first dance song?
“Van Morrison – “Days Like This””
Describe your wedding day in 5 words or less:
“Best day of our lives!!”
What was your something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue?
“Something old—diamond necklace that belonged to my great grandmother, something new—dress and veil, something borrowed—sapphire earrings from my mom (also my something blue).”
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
“We did a delayed honeymoon 5 months later. We went to London & Paris and had the best time!“
