Custom Gown in a Broadview Hotel Wedding | Savanna + Ian

Ceramics, pups, and love populated Savanna and Ian’s best day ever (so far).

Pottery is one of Savanna’s passions, and so naturally Ian proposed in the studio. “My husband got my best friend to plan a ruse with a fake pottery influencer event. I thought I was going to a pottery class but as it turns out my husband rented the whole studio and surprised me with a question and a ring!”

The two then spent the afternoon painting a ceramic vase, and then Ian surprised Savanna with another unforgettable experience. He’d flown her whole family out to celebrate their engagement and organized a dinner at Mamakas Taverna for everyone.

The Perfect Match

Savanna’s search for her gown brought her to the Lea-Ann Belter Toronto bridal shop. She knew straps and pockets were a must. Her creativity and appreciation for clean lines met their match in Astral, a modern wedding dress with a square neckline and fabulous pleated skirt.

Toronto Celebration at the Broadview

Pottery and their sweet Frenchie Macaroni both played a part in their wedding. These two made a pit stop at home on the day of to get some shots with their pup, and Ian wore French Bulldog cufflinks.

At the reception, guests found that, “all the tables were adorned with my personal pottery collection and I even hand created some special pieces for everyone to sign.” The platter beating all those signatures is now a beautiful token from their day that they can use during the holidays or when they entertain!

Could you share your engagement story?

I’m an avid pottery aficionado and my husband got my best friend to plan a ruse with a fake pottery influence event. I thought I was going to a pottery class but as it turns out my husband rented the whole studio and surprised me with a question and a ring! We spent the afternoon painting a ceramic vase and he surprised me again by flying my entire family out to celebrate over a mamakas dinner!

What little details are you especially glad you included?

My pottery! All the tables were adorned with my personal pottery collection and I even hand created some special pieces for everyone to sign. Now we have a giant platter signed by all our friends and family to use at Christmas and remember our big day.

We also included photos at our home and with our dog. We had our first look at our newly purchased home and snapped a few pics with our fur baby macaroni. My husband even had French bulldog cufflinks to wear with his suit.

Any advice for couples currently planning their wedding?

Have fun! Planning a wedding doesn’t have to be so serious. We treated our wedding activities as fun weekend dates and as a was to spend more quality time together.
