Harper Gown in a Tulum Destination Wedding | Diana + Matt

Toronto (and a little dating app magic) brought Diana and Matt together! When they met, the city was under COVID restrictions, so they spent a lot of time in parks and making dinner at each other’s homes. That turned out to be their love recipe—the two became inseparable in short order!

From 'No Wedding' to 'Yes, Please!' – Finding the Perfect Dress

Though Diana was sure Matt was her person, she wasn’t entirely sold on having a wedding—that is, until she went dress shopping. “Initially I didn’t want a wedding, but after trying on a wedding dress I said yes, please let’s have a party!” The experience of trying on gowns made her realize what she wanted for her big day: “I wanted to feel pretty and comfortable, but most importantly, to feel like myself.” When she slipped on Harper, her classic bridal gown at our Toronto boutique, she found exactly that. The comfort factor proved essential on the big day: “I’m very glad feeling comfortable was so important to me because on my wedding day, I ran, limbo danced, and jumped without worrying. My dress let me do everything while still making me feel pretty and like a beautiful bride.”

A Destination 'I Do' in Tulum

Diana grew up in Mexico City and Matt in Alberta, so they chose Tulum, Mexico, as the perfect place to start their new beginning. While every moment was special, their vows were particularly meaningful. “Matt said his in English and Spanish because he said that for him it was very important that my mom and family know how he feels for me. And they were particularly meaningful because in addition to the love and loyalty we promised to each other, we also vowed to be ‘patient with the others impatience’ it is an inside joke but summarizes that sometimes that’s what it is. Things are going to be perfect or great but we will be there supporting one another.”

Our warm, vivacious bride’s support-through-thick-and-thin philosophy is also woven through her excellent planning advice. “On a couple’s special day everything is about them, so in every choice listen to yourself and partner only and be surrounded by people that loves you and cheers for you and your love for each other. Don’t worry about making everyone happy, just you and your partner matters.” And sometimes, like Diana discovered, the right dress can change everything.
