Franklin Plaza Ballroom Wedding | Michaela + Jonathan

There are few things in my life I’ve never second-guessed, and Michaela is one of them.”

Jon’s answer to how he knew Michaela was his person gave us weak knees!

As for Michaela, she knew Jon was her match the moment they met. That night, they were out with mutual friends, and, says Michaela, “At one point we were dancing and I flailed and knocked Jon’s drink out of his hand by accident.  I tried to buy him a new one and he said, “I don’t need you to buy me a drink…but I would love your number.” SMOOTH CRIMINAL.  We became inseparable shortly after that.

Smooth criminal is right, lady!

These two used to pass by Franklin Plaza all the time and even once said to each other, “We should totally get married there.” Though they checked out other venues, Franklin Plaza was where it was at. That wasn’t the only easy decision—the moment Michaela tried on Fern at Something Blue Bridal, she knew it was The One.

The day of was, says our sweet couple, the “best day of our lives. Everything was perfect.  We put a lot of “us” into the wedding, including Jonathan’s Nike SB Dunks, which he gifted to all of his groomsmen and myself (to match him).  It was so nice for me because I hate wearing heels and generally don’t walk well in them.  I took most of my pictures in my nice shoes and then changed into the SB Dunks right before the ceremony.”

Michaela shares more of their story and day below!

How did you know the other was “the one”?

Michaela: “It sounds cliche, but I knew Jon was the one basically right after I met him.  I even dreamt about him the night we met.”

Jon: “I knew Michaela was the one because I immediately felt extremely comfortable being myself around her, which is something I had never experienced. There are few things in my life I’ve never second-guessed, and Michaela is one of them.”

What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another?

Michaels: “Jonathan taught me to treat others with kindness no matter what.  Everyone is dealing with something you know nothing about.”

Jon: “Michaela taught me to appreciate experiences more. She helped me come out of my comfort zone in many aspects of life.”

What is your favorite thing about each other?

Michaela: “My favorite thing about Jon is his unwavering patience and empathy.  He so rarely gets upset.  I, on the other hand, could be upset by pretty much anything.”

Jon: “My favorite thing about Michaela is how thoughtful she is. She makes everyone feel so special effortlessly.”

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

“We went to Italy for our honeymoon!  Such amazing food, wine, people, and views.”

Any tips for couples getting married?

“Make your day what YOU both want it to be.  Don’t worry too much about pleasing others.”
