Family — specifically moms — introduced Jordan and Matt. Their moms had been childhood friends who lost touch. But when Jordan’s mom saw that her old friend’s son would be attending the same college, she reached out immediately. Arrangements were made for Jordan to show Matt around campus, which she did, and then life took over.
It wasn’t until the end of exams that they got together again, and Jordan discovered, “Turns out, throughout our lives, we have always just been missing each other at events and holidays. Bonnie (Matt’s mom), was like a surrogate daughter to my grandparents in Matt’s early childhood (her parents had passed away earlier), and their family always went to visit my grandparents for Christmas in Montreal.” The kicker was that Matt and Jordan had met at university long before that day. They’d played together as kids at Christmas parties!
A Puppy-Powered Proposal
A Textured Wedding Gown with Custom Pockets
Jordan’s bridal gown must-haves centered around feeling beautiful, comfortable, and her family. She wanted a modern wedding dress that would “flow from my waist so that I could eat whatever I wanted lol.” And, as a type 1 diabetic, it was really important that her gown accommodated her insulin pump. “Pump placement and pockets are often a huge factor into what dresses and outfits I can wear,” finally, Matt’s grandmother is blind, and on the morning she got ready, Jordan wanted her to be able to sense what the dress was like. So, her dress had to have texture. After visiting a few stores, Jordan and her mom made their way to our flagship Toronto bridal shop, where, with Vanessa’s help, she met her match!
“The dress I had chosen, Rosebud, has this cool embossed pattern of flowers in it that gives it a lot of textile feel, which I thought was a bonus not only because I loved the look, but because it would give mama (Matt’s grandma) a better idea of the dress.” Plus, her gown was customized exactly for her. Our in-house team designed a custom pocket especially for her pump. “I really appreciated that it could accommodate my insulin pump and not have my wires poking out or tugging…this was the first time I had ever gotten pockets tailored to fit my needs.”

How did the two of you meet?
How did you get engaged?
Tell us about your outfits, how did you choose your gown?
I didn’t have much of an idea of what I wanted going into the dress shopping process, except that I wanted it to flow from my waist so that I could eat whatever I wanted lol. We had tried a couple different stores, but nothing felt fully right. One thing I really appreciated about the design of this dress was that the team had designed it with a custom pocket that could accommodate my insulin pump, and not have my wires poking out or tugging. Having type 1 diabetes, pump placement and pockets is often a huge factor into what dresses and outfits I can wear, and this was the first time I had ever gotten pockets tailored to fit my needs.
Another consideration was time we had set aside on the wedding day for getting ready. Matt’s grandmother has been blind for some time, and we wanted her to be able to come up to the loft where we were getting ready so that she could feel the dress and get a sense of what it looked like. The dress I had chose, the “Rosebud”, has this cool embossed pattern of flowers in it that gives it a lot of textile feel, which I thought was a bonus not only because I loved the look, but because it would give mama (Matt’s grandma) a better idea of the dress. (also Vanessa was super amazing at making me feel comfortable and confident to pick what I felt best suited me. I usually hate dressing rooms and trying stuff on so that was a big one for me.
Why did you get married where you did?
Port Colborne (Maple Meadows), were an amazing team and were so involved in chilling out my stress level lol (I have since learned that I could never be a big event planner). They did the flowers, decorations, so much of the small, last-minute details
