Virginia Beach Wedding: A Love-Filled Day with Old Friends
One of the more marvelous things about your wedding day is having just about everyone you love (and who loves you) all in one room. That happy, joyful energy combined with the fact that you’re promising forever to Your Person is intoxicating! And when one of your vendors is an old friend, that adds an extra layer of special.
Megan and Connor’s Virginia Beach wedding was filled with that endorphin-boosting love cocktail—and capturing it all was Megan’s old friend and professional photographer, Molly Rose. She and Megan were both oceanography majors at the Naval Academy and spent loads of classes, summer programs, and lots of free time together. Shared Molly, “When Megan asked if I would photograph their wedding, I was so excited to be a part of her day! She mentioned wanting a photographer she knew and felt comfortable with and who could blend seamlessly into the day. Our whole college friend group was there, so I actually sat with my table instead of the vendor table and got to catch up with everyone! Overall, it was such an honor to photograph their day. It’s such a crazy feeling knowing someone in college and then watching them read vows and marry someone. I’ve been to lots of friends’ weddings but seeing it from such an intimate perspective as the photographer, truly from start to finish, is just so special.”
Getting Ready Together: A Sweet Start
Megan and Connor’s day started as everyone’s does—transforming themselves from regular people into a bride and groom. Except these two did things a little differently! As Megan ate lunch and started prepping to slip on her Lea-Ann Belter Cora gown, Connor got ready nearby. This, their photographer Molly says, was “really sweet because Megan got to be a part of helping Connor get dressed. I wish more couples would do this!”
Though Molly got a sneak peek at Connor in his tux, he hadn’t seen her in her gown yet, so with help from Megan’s family, Molly ushered Megan outside the Delta Hotel VB Waterfront. There, on a pathway to the beach, Megan and Connor shared a sweet pre-ceremony moment.
Thoughtful Reception Details
After exchanging vows, everyone headed to the Lesner Inn…except the newlyweds, who stole away to the bridal suite to celebrate with a beer. Since there was time before guests arrived, they practiced their choreographed first dance. They also took in all their reception details, including their super cute table numbers, which were baby pictures of them at each age that corresponded with the table number—so Molly and Connor as 10-year-olds for table 10!
A Night to Celebrate
Once dinner gave way to dancing, everyone stayed on the dancefloor until they took the party elsewhere for the rest of the night. Says Molly, “Their DJ was fantastic, there wasn’t a moment the dance floor was empty. The group went to Chick’s Oyster Bar down the street for a fun after-party and more catching up after!”
