Planning a Destination Wedding in Aruba
Finding a Beach-Ready Ball Gown
Over the course of her wedding dress appointments, Rebecca tried on lots of styles. But one gown at our flagship Toronto bridal shop kept calling to her – a custom combination of our Robin, Aubrey, and Chorus gowns. “The fabric felt so luxurious yet incredibly light – exactly what I wanted for my beach wedding.” She also loved that her timeless wedding dress would be made right above the store in our atelier. “That gave me real confidence when they said they could customize it to my needs: combining the bodice and skirt I loved and making sure I’d have easy access to my insulin pump near my waist.”
On top of that, once her one-of-a-kind ball gown was made, “They also handled all alterations on site, which made the decision even easier. I wouldn’t have to find another place to work on a dress this detailed. Taken together, all of those things made the choice feel obvious. No other gown, and no other boutique, checked every box the way this one did.”

How did you choose your gown?
How did the two of you meet?
Could you share your engagement story?
Logan proposed in May 2024 at a beautiful spot overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco on the first day of a three-day hike that took us from the city, through Muir Woods, and eventually to Mill Valley. I had a strong suspicion the proposal might happen on that trip but I was convinced it would be on day two.
I was completely oblivious to his actual plan until he very firmly refused to let me buy a Diet Coke before we walked over to the overlook (despite me insisting I was thirsty). That was the moment I knew something was up.
What atmosphere did you want to create on your wedding day?
We just really wanted everyone to have an absolute ton of fun. Curated, personal, and seamless. A celebration of Logan and my love and a reflection of the love we had for every one of our guests.
We included a lot of small, handmade touches throughout the day. I designed all of our paper goods: invitations, menus, escort cards, bar signs, napkins, matchbooks. But the detail I’m most proud of was sewing and then quilting everyone’s dinner napkins.
During the reception, I mentioned to a friend that I had made the napkins, and she was completely shocked (“I knew you made those, but my husband said there was no way”). When Logan realized people didn’t know, he had the DJ announce that I had made them, that they’d been laundered, and that they were now on a table for guests to take home. Watching people rush to grab them made me feel incredibly warm and happy.
What part of your wedding felt most meaningful to you both (other than the getting married part, of course!)?
Next door to our favorite ice cream shop is a dance studio, and one night after getting ice cream, we joked that maybe we should take dance lessons before the wedding (since we’re both terrible dancers). I did a little research, and six weeks before the wedding, we were signed up for a ten-lesson program (which meant multiple classes a week in the final month leading up to the wedding).
What started as a joke turned into one of the most meaningful parts of our wedding. Working so closely together on something we both cared about (and were equally bad at) was incredibly grounding. Watching each other improve in such a short time, purely through dedication, felt really special. We didn’t tell anyone we were taking lessons, so getting to surprise everyone during our first dance with way more dance talent than expected made it even more fun.
