Custom Gown in a Toronto Golf Club Wedding | Taylor + Jamie

A blind date was Taylor and Jamie’s big beginning. From the moment they met, they knew something special was afoot. They took their next big step together in Boston, where, while walking along the harbor, Jamie proposed!

The Right Gown Was Right Around the Corner

Taylor’s daily runs took her past our flagship Toronto bridal shop. So, when they got back from their trip, she knew exactly where she wanted to go to find her classic wedding dress. The right gown didn’t take long to find! “My dress was the gown Vanessa pulled first and I immediately fell in love with it.” We’re delighted to report that her choice was made even better over the course of her planning journey, “Vanessa made the entire experience so amazing throughout the fittings the year of our wedding.”

Golf, Pups, and Their Perfect Day

As they planned their wedding, Taylor and Jamie knew they wanted the day to “feel like home and truly reflect us and the life we’ve built together.” Jamie has been a golfer for as long as he could swing a club, and for the two of them, “The Toronto Golf Club has always been that place…Since the day we met, it’s been woven into so many of our favourite memories.”

Like so many of us, Taylor and Jamie are proud pup parents! To include Frankie in their day, they had family pictures taken before the ceremony, and her cute face introduced signature drinks at the bar.

How did the two of you meet?

Five years ago, Jamie and I met after being set up on a blind date and have been together ever since!

Could you share your engagement story?

Jamie planned a surprise trip to Boston and proposed on our walk to dinner in front of the harbour.

How did you personalize your day?

We were able to bring our pup to get some family pictures before the ceremony and they are some of our favourite pictures! We had lots of dog themed design pieces incorporated into our day to make sure she was included!

Tell us about finding your gown!

I was living near the east end shop and ran by it everyday so once we were engaged I knew I wanted to try on their gowns! My dress was the gown Vanessa pulled first and I immediately fell in love with it. Vanessa made the entire experience so amazing throughout the fittings the year of our wedding.

What feeling or atmosphere did you want to create?

When we imagined our wedding day, we wanted it to feel like home and a place that truly reflects us and the life we’ve built together. The Toronto Golf Club has always been that place. Jamie has been golfing there his entire life, and since the day we met, it’s been woven into so many of our favourite memories. From quiet walks on the grounds to long summer evenings spent together, it’s been a constant in our relationship. We felt incredibly lucky to be married there and to welcome our family and friends into a place we love so deeply. With the help of the club’s in-house florist, Lisa Boyack, our Pinterest dreams came to life with soft coastal blues, airy white florals, and a timeless elegance that perfectly captured the feeling of the day.

Any advice for couples currently planning their wedding?

If we could offer one piece of advice, it would be to truly enjoy the process as much as you can. Wedding planning can feel stressful and overwhelming at times, and it’s easy to get caught up in details that feel urgent in the moment. But being engaged is such a special season and one where you’re planning a day that celebrates the love between you and your husband, surrounded by your closest friends and family. Take a step back when you can, soak in the excitement, and remember why you’re doing this in the first place.
