We’re cooling things off (or maybe heating them up?) with Shelby and Drew’s modern white winter wedding in Dallas!
These met in college, but while they were working for the same public accounting firm. They kept things professional and were just friends for several years, until, says Shelby, “He left public accounting to go work for his family business we began dating shortly after!”
The Search for the Perfect Winter Wedding Dress
Fast forward a few years and Drew surprised Shelby with a sweet Dallas rooftop proposal (more on that sweet moment from our sweet bride below). As they began planning a black-tie winter celebration, Shelby went in search of an timeless wedding gown. She knew she wanted something with sleeves since it would be chilly. but she also knew she’d be dancing a lot inside and wanted to stay comfy. She ended up trying on a lot of gowns and felt overwhelmed.
Says Shelby: “My sister asked if she could pick out one last dress for me that she had seen. She had gotten married a few years before me and had also worn a Lea-Ann Belter dress so she found one for me she thought I would like. I loved everything about it immediately and it felt perfect for a winter wedding, but it did not have sleeves.
A Custom Lea-Ann Belter Gown, Made for Dancing
Our stylist immediately pulled an overlay with sleeves that Lea-Ann had for a different dress and called to see if she would make it in the same design as the dress I had on. As soon as she said yes, it was the easiest decision to go with that gown! I also wore my sister’s veil, so it just brought together everything so perfectly for the day.”
It can be so stressful looking for the right dress, especially in the face of an abundance of choice. We love that her sister not only wore a Lea-Ann Belter, too, but saved the day!
Winter Glamour in Dallas
More about Shelby and Drew’s chic, shimmering wintery day from our sweet bride below:
How did you know the other was "the one"?
How did you two get engaged?
What was the funniest moment of your day?
During our ceremony, neither of us expected to get super emotional since we did a first look, but both of us started crying as I was walking down the aisle. As soon as I got to the end of the aisle, we were both about to really start crying, but then someone stepped on my veil and it flew off my head. My dad freaked out and all he could say was “It wasn’t me, was it you.” It was such a funny moment and we all just began laughing and my sister ran over and put it back on. It was just such a funny moment to lighten it all up and then we were ready to get married.
What part of your wedding day was most important to you?
The car ride to the church was one of my favorite times because it gave us 10 minutes to just sit and chat and really take in the fact that we were about to get married and commit to each other for the rest of our lives. I had been a little nervous all day but getting that time with Drew really calmed me down and was exactly what I needed.
Any tips for couples getting married?
Enjoy the process and don’t get too overwhelmed in all the small details. Wedding planning is stressful, and it is easy to get caught up in it all. Once you get to your wedding day, all the little things you have been stressing about don’t matter anymore because you know you are marrying the love of your life.
