Two people so happy together you get that secondhand love glow. A blue wedding dress. A Pomeranian named Lily in a purple velvet lewk. There’s so much to adore about Olivia and Krystian’s wedding day!
These two met through mutual friends and stayed in the friendship zone for two years until they started dating. Then they never looked back!
Their love story has all the elements of a modern fairytale with a whole lot of playfulness thrown in. They got engaged at Christmastime, Olivia had a Cinderella moment(s) when her shoe emancipated itself on her wedding day, and Olivia’s gown was whipped up just for her.
When searching for her gown, Olivia was driven by one thing—moody fairytale forest. Other than that, she had no idea what she wanted.
“Finding my dress was quite the journey because there are not enough Pinterest boards in the world for me to find my vision. I also wasn’t sure what silhouette I wanted or fabric, just that I wanted the vibe to be very moody fairytale forest. It was amazing to have found Lea-Ann Belter because there was so much flexibility and Vanessa was able to help find me pieces of a puzzle to put together, that gave me my vision and I didn’t even know it was my vision! I also didn’t know how much I wanted blue. I wanted different and unique and blue would have been nice because it is my favourite colour but as soon as I saw the swatch I said if I don’t pick this colour I will be full of regret!”
As for her groom, Olivia shares, “Krystian’s suite was quite tricky because I needed him to go with navy or blue without telling him my dress was going to be blue. So, we thankfully have a family friend who owns a mens clothing store, Nello Uomo, and was able to help execute the vision in secrecy! Krystian also isn’t used to wearing suits, so I have to say it was quite cute to see his confidence rise when he saw what he looked like in his!”

How did you know the other was “the one”?
“I actually didn’t! It was very weird, everything was just very organic like instant best friends. It wasn’t until maybe a year into dating we started talking about moving in together and just life where I went “Oh, this is serious! Okay!” ha!”
How did you two get engaged?
“After a failed attempt a Canadas Wonderland Winterfest, because he waited too late and the park closed so they kicked us out, he hid the ring box in the Christmas tree and proposed a couple weeks later on Christmas Day! But because it was Christmas I didn’t tell anyone until a couple days later!”
What is your favorite thing about each other?
“My favourite thing about Krystian is that he is very sure of himself. He will make a decision and not look back even if it doesn’t go the way he intended. He is very good at letting go and saying I don’t regret that decision, let’s try a different way.
His favourite thing about me is my willingness to do things, if he says “hey let’s do this” or “let’s try that” he knows I will always be on board!”
Tell us about your day!
“Hands down, my favourite part was being able to include my dog and my dog-nephew into our wedding! While my poor Lily couldn’t come down the aisle with me because she was over stimulated, my dog-nephew Nimbus carried the rings and slept the entire ceremony, he was so cute!
I also loved being able to see family and friends from out of town because we don’t get to see them very often!
The food! To die for! Pillar and Post had the most delicious offerings for us. People are still talking about it!
Just having fun! Juggling school, work and just over all life it’s hard for us to just take a break and relax and while weddings are busy! Brides to be, be warned LOL, it was a very fun busy!”
What was the funniest moment of your day?
“My shoe fell off three times! 1 x during photos, 1 x during cocktail hour and then again when we walked it! Which was funny because me losing my shoe and almost falling is just funny but also because my mom’s favourite princess is Cinderella, so I had a Cinderella moment.”
What part of your wedding day was most important to you?
“I had a few important parts actually! Being able to do it with our friends and family around was great! Having the pups was also great! The father-daughter dance was very special as well! “
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
“We spent a lovely 2 weeks in Greece! It was so nice to enjoy the warm weather, go to the beach, see some ruins and even do some hiking!”
Any tips for couples getting married?
“I have many tips actually!
It is cliche, but enjoy it! Especially those who are taking the lead on planning, you will feel like you are being pulled in 6000 directions and you have to be on top of everything all the time and it is okay to take a day or two off every once and a while and just breath!
Don’t be afraid to ask friends of family for help! They love you and want this day to be special as well!
Also cliche, continue to date each other. Just because you are married now or maybe you have been living together for a while and now getting married, it’s still a change, enjoy it, celebrate it! Celebrate wins and comfort each other’s loses, the bonding doesn’t end!
Don’t be afraid to say no or say your vision! Trust me, you will regret more not doing something even if it was crazy! Don’t let others make you feel bad for your choices or decisions.
Squabbles will happen! It’s fine! How boring would life be if we always agreed with each other!
Keep some time to yourself. You don’t have to do everything together all the time! It’s okay to have something that is just yours.
Finally, there is almost always a planner and a coaster. Planners—don’t worry if the coaster doesn’t seem to care, they still love you and want to marry you!”
