Venturing to a Christmas tree farm to choose the perfect tree was something Emily and Avery did every year. As they stood in the winter sun surrounded by the scent of pine and birdsong, Avery knelt to cut their tree. But then Avery flipped the script and whipped out a ring!
Emily’s search for her gown began at home. “I had two dresses for my big day and my second dress I have made from my mom’s original dress from the 80’s! It was super special because my mom didn’t know I was doing that.”
Then, it was off to find the gown in which she’d exchange vows with Avery. For that, she headed to our flagship Toronto bridal shop. “One of my bridesmaids and best friends has always been into fashion and design. From a young age I always joked and asked her if she would design my dress when I got married. Fast forward to now, she helped to design the dress of my dreams and then when we tried on dresses at Lea-Ann Belter and Vanessa told me that she could put a couple dress together to create ‘The Emily’, my dream dress I knew it was meant to be.”
More about their day from our delightful bride below!
How did the two of you meet?
“We actually met working at Lululemon together in our younger days. Funny enough I was actually his boss there for a while!”
How did you know the other was “the one”?
“For us we were really amazing friends at first. Once we crossed the line from just friends to something more it was super clear to both of us that we were meant to spend the rest of our lives together. We were inseparable from then on!”
What was the funniest moment of your day?
“When I was walking down the aisle everyone was starting to tear up and cry, but just before I made it down the stairs my veil got caught in a lavender plant. It was actually so perfect and the comedic relief I think we all needed!”
What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you?
“There were a lot of moments that were so important but one that I would suggest for everyone and my favourite moment of the weekend was our first look. It gave us some time together to really soak it all in.”
