Liliana Gown in a Franklin Plaza Ballroom Wedding | Aly + Dan

One crisp fall night, Aly and Dan both found themselves at a local bar in their small town. They didn’t know each other, despite growing up in a place where pretty much everyone knew each other. A UFC fight flickered from the TVs above but wasn’t holding Dan’s attention. He was too drawn to the woman nearby. Wanting to talk to her, he asked, “Who do you think will win?”

That was the instant that things took a turn into the extraordinary, and they’ve been together ever since!

The Perfect Dress (Finally!)

After at least five appointments, Aly was starting to lose hope that she’d find a classic wedding dress she loved. Nonetheless, she came back to Something Bleu Bridal in Saratoga Springs. Maybe there was something they’d missed! Her instincts were right. “I saw a dress on the mannequin, and something called me to it. On the most perfect day with just my mom and Taylor Swift playing in the shop, I found the one!”

How did you choose your gown?

The gown is the opposite of what I went in thinking I would get! After about five dress shopping appointments, I was losing hope that I’d ever have that feeling of finding “the one” and knowing, but I came back to Something Bleu and saw this on the mannequin and something called me to it. On the most perfect day with just my mom and Taylor Swift playing in the shop, I found the one!

How did the two of you meet?

We’re both from a small town where everyone tends to know each other, but somehow Dan and I never crossed paths until after college. We finally met in October 2018 at a local bar on a night when a UFC fight was playing. Dan struck up a conversation by asking who I thought would win, and I surprised him with random knowledge of the sport. That first conversation sparked an instant connection, and we’ve been together ever since.

Share your engagement story!

Our engagement story is quintessentially us—it might not sound traditionally romantic, but it was perfect for us. We had a Florida trip planned where I strongly suspected Dan would propose. The day it happened, we were walking along the beach searching for shells when I started feeling anxious about the possibility of strangers gathering around during such an intimate moment. When we finally reached a quiet stretch of beach with no one around, I essentially gave him the green light. It was private, peaceful, and exactly what I wanted. Afterward, we walked back to share the news with my family and celebrated together.

What atmosphere did you want to create on your wedding day?

I envisioned a truly stress-free day filled with love and celebration—a space where everyone could simply enjoy the moment and each other.

What part of your wedding felt most meaningful to you both (other than the getting married part, of course!)?

Having everyone we love in one place was incredibly special—it’s such a rare gift in life. One detail that meant the world to us was live streaming the ceremony for our grandparents who couldn’t be there in person. It allowed them to be part of our day despite the distance.
