There is so much to love about Kassandra and Scott’s love story and constellation-inspired wedding day, from Kassandra walking herself down the aisle singing Adele’s “Make You Feel My Love” to Kassandra’s brother officiating the ceremony. But the most wonderful thing? After a honeymoon in Italy centered around a Mediterranean cruise, they discovered Kassandra was pregnant! So, the two joyful, so-in-love people in all these gorgeous photos will soon be three!

For all the sweet details about how Kassandra and Scott met (his dad was involved), where our lovely bride found her Joy gown, and their “Under the Stars” themed celebration, read on!

From Kassandra:

How did you guys meet?

“Scott’s dad set us up! I was working with Scott’s dad, Bill, at the time, and he decided that he wanted to retire. Bill was such a great mentor. I told him not to and then asked him if he had a son and that I would marry him so that I would take care of him in his old age. His father thought, “Why not?” and set us up on a blind date.”

How did you know Scott was “the one”?

“I knew he was the one early on in our relationship. There was a moment when I called Scott after a particularly bad day at the office, and he said to me, “It will be alright, I’m here for you. It’s just you and me against the world, kid.” I melted, and I knew he was the one that I was meant to spend the rest of my life with.”

How did your sweetie propose?

“Scott surprised me with a weekend getaway on February 23rd, 2018, to Quebec City. Usually, he is not the planner in the relationship, but for this weekend, he took care of all the arrangements. We stayed at the famous Chateau Frontenac in a beautiful suite. After we checked in, it had begun to lightly snow, and Scott wanted to take a walk on the boardwalk called Terrasse Dufferin overlooking the Saint Lawrence River. I wondered why he looked so nervous until, at one point under a gazebo, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife.”

How did you choose your gown?

“A friend had told me about a small bridal boutique who specialized in unique wedding gowns. When I found the Astrid & Mercedes brand dresses on their website, I immediately made an appointment. I went with my mom, my future mother-in-law, my aunt, and my maid of honor. All of whom pulled some dresses for me to try on. I had chosen three Astrid & Mercedes dresses to try. One after another, all the dresses I tried on were nice but not “the one.” The moment that I put on “Joy” I knew it was my dress! It was absolutely perfect, and everyone around me watched as I spun around in this dress, and I was beaming!”

Tell us about your day!

“Our wedding day was magical! Instead of a traditional ceremony set up, we arranged all the chairs in a circle so that we were in the middle of the room, and everyone could feel the intimacy of the ceremony. My brother was the officiant and incorporated symbolism like the joint lighting of a candle, washing our hands with water in a basin, and tailoring the ceremony to our lives perfectly. Another thing that I did was I surprised Scott by singing my way down the aisle. I sang, “Make You Feel My Love,” the Adele version. Scott had no idea, and the look on his face was priceless! Our wedding theme was “Under the Stars,” so for our centerpieces, I had collected champagne bottles and put fairy lights inside the bottles and set three to a table. We also decided that instead of table numbers, we used constellations. We draped one wall with black cloth with fairy lights so that it looked like stars.”

What was your first dance song?

“ “Feel Good”(the acoustic version featuring Daya) by Gryffin. The lyrics of the song were exactly how we feel about each other.”

One detail you couldn’t live without?

“The constellation table numbers and the seating chart. It really tied in the romantic/intimate look that we were striving for.”

What was the funniest moment of your day?

“During the ceremony, my brother (the officiant) got to the part where he asked Scott and me to put our hands in a basin while he poured water over them. It symbolized that we are cleaning our hands of the past and going into our future fresh! We were then meant to use a cloth to dry each other’s hands, but unfortunately, someone forgot to put it out, so we used the table cloth instead!”

Three words that best describe your partner:

“Scott is wonderful, patient, and hilarious!”

Any advice for future brides/grooms?

“Your wedding day goes by in a flash, so take some time during the day to breathe and just be with your new spouse. Also, make sure to eat, and don’t worry if things don’t go according to plan! No one but you will notice, and it’s not important. What is important is that you enjoy your day.“
